Weeki Wachee Springs 70th Anniversary
On October 13, 1947, Newton Perry's vision of beautiful women performing underwater ballet became a reality. FrednBarbara RichterTerrific video! My bff and I were just there two weeks ago to fulfill my #1 bucket list item to attend your Sirens of the Deep Mermaid Camp. Having the Legendary Sirens teach us along with the magic of the springs was beyond anything we could have hoped for. What a mer-mazing experience! The day after camp we kayaked down the WW River and saw NINE manatees...it was incredible! So happy for all of you for maintaining such a pristine, unique little park and so glad it survived the mouse! Happy 70th! <3 🧜‍♀️😍 Snowy Mermaid Barbara, official WWS Siren

Today our students were fortunate enough to observe a manatee munching on some vegetation in the Weeki Wachee river!! These loveable mammals can eat 10 to 15% of their body weight in a single day. That means a 1,000 pound adult manatee can eat approximately 150 pounds of vegetation! Remember that manatees are protected by three laws and should always be observed from a safe distance. It’s up to us to protect these wonderful creatures. 🌊💙 #EverydayNature #Florida #Wildlife #WeekiWachee #R...
